Belonging to several networking organizations got to be too much at one point and I had to scale back. The group I opted to stick with was the SBCN, because to me it offered the most value. The events are monthly (plus special events), which is easy to make time for. And if you make a commitment to attend as I have, it doesn't take long to start to build familiarity with the connections you've made. Plus new faces are sure to appear at almost every meeting, so it's easy to make new ones. Linda and Dave do a great job keeping the theme fresh and interesting, and the membership fee is trivial. To me, the SBCN is the essential networking group to belong to.
It's always good to know when you're doing something right. Our members have shared their thoughts on how the SBCN has helped them... and how we could help you too!
If you'd like to share how the SBCN has helped you, why not let us know?
Becoming a member of the Small Business Community Network was a no brainer for my company. Their mentorship provides practical guidance and opens doors to environments where I can build relationships with other small business owners and truly network with a purpose.
I have been a Member of the Small Business Community Network (SBCN) since June 2013. After attending the first Networking Event, I truly wanted to be a member of this organization. The atmosphere throughout the evening was warm, the energy positive and the words spoken by the Co-Founders of the SBCN were encouraging. I feel special when in the presence of Linda and Dave. They share ideas on how to network and who to specifically network with.
Linda and Dave show their members are Appreciated by hosting special Member Appreciation events, summer socials, etc. They want their members to succeed with their businesses and will assist in anyway they can. I have met and connected with wonderful new entrepreneurs. I have become their customers and they have become mine. I promote SBCN and Co-Founders Linda and Dave Ockwell-Jenner at every opportunity.
My business is referral based and I am a big believer in Networking. I joined the SBCN over 5 years ago,and have had the opportunity to meet and develop business and personal relationships with many of the members, and it has been a win-win for all of us. David and our social sweetheart Linda ,have provided a great venue for us to build our businesses. I like the fact that there are many different types of businesses, who are members, and have enjoyed learning about there successes and challenges. Thank you to Linda and Dave for their support and providing such a great networking opportunity.
I have been a member of SBCN for just over a year. During this time, I have repeatedly seen evidence that the SBCN networking focus is genuine and sincere. Some other networking groups seem to “talk the talk”, whereas the SBCN organization “walks the walk”.
I congratulate Dave and Linda, the Co-Founders of the Small Business Community Network (SBCN) for their efforts over the past ten plus years. They care about their community of small business owners and do what they can to help us to help ourselves. My hat’s off to them both. Thank you.
The SBCN was the first networking event I attended when I started my business. Linda Ockwell-Jenner greeted me at the door as if I was an invited guest in her home. She didn't stop there...Linda introduced me to many members of the SBCN who also made me feel welcome. This is the perfect event to overcome your fears about networking.
Signing up for the Small Business Community Network (SBCN) was a no brainer for my company. Thee mentorship provides practical guidance and opens doors to environments where I can build relationships with other small business owners and truly network with a purpose.
I’ve enjoyed being a member of the SBCN for the last 9 years because it has always been a welcoming, friendly group of people. Over the years I’ve made many new friends and business relationships that I would have otherwise missed out on had it not been for the SBCN.
I've been a proud member of the SBCN for many years and was especially proud to help celebrate the SBCN's tenth anniversary this year, a testament to its intrinsic value. The stewardship and tireless dedication of Linda and Dave is second to none. Networking is a very important component for all small business owners. I have tried different networking groups, however none are like the SBCN. The true distinction with the SBCN is that members are friends first. Most have built up a genuine trust relationship. Members are more at ease in referring a client because they know other members will treat them as they would their own customers. Linda and Dave are mentors, confidants and, above all, very good friends.
I have always believed in two things – Small businesses being a driving force behind economic growth, and the power of real face-to-face networking. With the Small Business Community Network, I have been fortunate enough to have found both.
When I was starting up the dsgn network, I was needing a way to get my name out in Kitchener-Waterloo, to engage with potential colleagues and clientele and to truly make myself the face of my business. With Linda and Dave's support over the past few years I can proudly say I have attained those goals. They are always willing to go above and beyond for me, and in turn, I have tried to do the same acting as not only the face of the dsgn network, but an Ambassador to the Waterloo Region Chapter of the SBCN.
If business owners are unsure about how to connect, engage and build true, lasting relationships then they only need to attend of one of the SBCN events. It is truly an environment where real, not Social networking thrives and you can find business connections and familiar, helpful people to build you own success.
